Whose portrait appears in this work, was born in De Kalb county, Tennessee, August 3, 1837. He then returned to this county and embarked in the livery business at Healdsburg one year, when he settled on his present farm, consisting of one hundred and sixty acres, located in Washington township, about one-half mile from Geyserville.
