Riley Birks

BIRKS, RILEY (1840-1909) Monterey El Encinal Cemetery 
(Pacific Grove Daily Review: Feb. 27th, 1909) 
Riley Birks of New Monterey died at his home on Hawthorne avenue on Friday aged sixty eight years. The surviving sons and daughters are Martin Birks of Monterey, Sam Birks and Mrs. M. D. Copeland of this city. Miss Netti and Miss Nellie Birks of New Monterey, Mrs. John Alex, Mrs. Thomas Smith and Frank Birks of Logan Iowa. J. L. Birks of this city and Thos Birks of Missouri are brothers of the deceased. Mr. Birks was a member of the Monterey Masonic lodge and also a member of the Grand Army having served in Company B 106 Illinois Infantry. The funeral will be held from the family residence on Sunday at 2 o’clock.
