Record of Funerals, Dec. 15, 1926 “Stockraiser” (Paso Robles Press, Thursday, December 16, 1926) Old Resident Stone Canyon Passes Away Lee Abernethy, a former resident of Stone Canyon, Monterey county, where he operated a stock ranch for many years, died the 13th of December at the home of his daughter Mrs. Edward Krough, at San Luis Obispo, aged 82 years. The body was interred here by the side of a son, who preceded him in death some six years. Mr. Abernathy was a native of Missouri and served in the ranks of the Confederate army from 1861 to 1863. During his long residence in Monterey county he acquired a wide circle of friends, who will regret his passing. A tragedy in his family in which his only son, William Abernethy, was killed at the hands of a neighbor in a dispute over stock, broke his spirit and hastened his death. Mr. Abernethy is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Edward Krough, and two grand children, Miss Nadine and Ted Krough of San Luis Obispo.
