ALLEN CHARLES C (1836-1923) CAL/Rvrsde UNK (Monterey Peninsula Herald August 14, 1923) Former Grove Resident Dies In Southland Charles C. Allen, former resident of Salinas and Pacific Grove, died yesterday at the home of his grand niece, Mrs. V.A. Allen in Riverside, at the age of 87 years. He was recently adjudged insane and ordered taken to the state hospital at Patton, San Bernardino county. He stopped with his niece on the way to the hospital. Allen conducted a blacksmith shop in Salinas many years ago and also to Pacific Grove and resided there served as constable. Later he moved until recently. He was a veteran an of the civil war.
