ASKWITH, WILLIAM S (-1927) USA/NE OMAHA (Pacific Grove Daily Review January 8, 1927) Word was received here yesterday of the death of Comrade W.S. Askwith at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Lawrence, in Long Beach on Thursday [January 6]. Mr. and Mrs. Askwith have been visiting with their daughter in the south over the holidays and Mr. Askwith’s death comes as a shock to all his friends here. Comrade Askwith was a loved and honored member of the local corps of Veterans of the Grand Army of the Republic and will be long remembered for the active part he took in patriotic ceremonials in the Grove. Mr. Askwith was a man of brilliant mind and lovable personality. He will be greatly missed by his few remaining comrades here and by all his many friends. Mr. Askwith leaves top mourn his passing his widow, Mrs. Askwith, who is now with her daughter in Long Beach, his son, Mr. H.S. Askwith, of Pacific Grove, and his sister, Mrs. Susan A Sheeler, who shared his home here in the Grove. The deceased will be buried in his old home town of Omaha.
