All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. BEECHER E. B. 1847-1922 SAN MATEO (Pacific Grove Daily Review January 16, 1922) Death Sunday Morning of E.B. Beecher Death came to the home of Mr. E.B. Beecher at 5 o'clock yesterday (Sunday) morning January 15th, and removed him from his family and friends after a long illness. Although a resident of Pacific Grove but about one short year, he was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Mr. Beecher was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1847. At the age of 17 he enlisted for the Civil War. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. He resided in and near Auburn, Placer county, California, for 35 years, where he was among the pioneer fruit growers. He had lived in Pacific Grove nearly a year, and passed peacefully away at his home in the Pacific Grove Marina on Ocean Boulevard at 5 o'clock Sunday morning after quite a long illness. His surviving relatives are his widow, Mrs... Minnie D. Beecher of this city; two sons Samuel P. Beecher of Peshastin, Washington and Martha L. Beecher of Long Beach, California; four sisters, Mrs. Abby B. Abbott and Mrs. Caroline B. Silva of Carmel, Mfrs. B. Longyear of Brookline, Massachusetts, and Mrs. Slice B. Munro of Princeton, New Jersey; and a brother, Bryant L. Beecher of Chicago, Illinois. The funeral will be private, only members of the post and Corps, G.A.R., to be present, and will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at Paul's undertaking parlors. Cremation will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, San Mateo County ATTENTION G.A.R. Members of Lucius Fairchild Post No. 179, G.A.R., you are hereby requested to assemble at Post Headquarters, Work Hall, at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 17th to attend the funeral of our deceased Comrade E.B. Beecher, at Paul's Undertaking parlor at 2 o'clock. The funeral exercises will be held under the auspices of the Post. The remains will be taken to Mt. Olivet Cemetery form cremation Wednesday morning.
