Burke, aged 75 years, who has made his home here for about 20 years past, died in San Francisco last Saturday. He was a Civil War Veteran and served with distinction in the famed “Iron Brigade”, which saw constant service during the four years of the war, being survived by an only brother, Wallace Burke of this this city. The remains were brought to this city and the funeral service held in Petitt’s Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Mr. Russell officiating, at 2 pm last Wednesday. His remains were layed away withy Military Honors. Half a dozen Civil War Veterans were present in addition to many civilian friends and “Taps” were sounded by; the bugle corps of the Boy Scouts. “God rest his soul in peace”.
