Harris at 2:30 This Afternoon The funeral of Emmet B Harris, the colored man who dropped dead on the street Friday morning, will be held from the Baptist Church in Pacific Grove this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Rev. EBB. Reed will officiate. Friends of the deceased are invited to attend the services. Interment will be in the Monterey Cemetery. (Monterey Daily Cypress June 2, 1908) E.B. Harris Buried with Military Honors. The funeral of E.B. Harris was held Sunday afternoon from the First Baptist Church at Pacific Grove. Rev. E.B. Reed officiating. Mr. Harris as born in Boston Mass. He had no relatives here so it fell to the generosity of his friends to defray expenses. W. H. Smith proved a loyal friend by taking all responsibility on himself and through solicitation a goodly sum was realized. We wish to express our many thanks to Mr. Underwood, who responded so nobly and also to all others who contributed. We also wish to thank the firing squad, composed of Corporal Baker, Musician Hixby, Privates Cook, Eilers, Prater, Thomas, McCall. Culver land and Hadin, for their loyalty to this ex soldier. E.B.
