SPENCER, TRUMAN (1837-1901) Pacific Grove (Pacific Grove Review Feb 2, 1901) Death of a Veteran Truman Spencer, an old resident of Pacific Grove and a veteran of the civil war, died at his home on Nineteenth St. on Monday last aged 64 years. Deceased was a member of Lucius Fairchild Post No. 179 Grand Army of the Republic. He was a native of New York state, but after the rebellion broke he enlisted in Company C of the Twenty first Wisconsin Infantry, and served as a private until the close of the war. He was twice married and leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held on Tuesday under the auspices of Lucius Fairchild Post and were well attended by members of the Post, members of W.R.C. Ladies of the G.A.R. and other friends. The remains were laid to rest in the reservation cemetery.
