Olivet (Peninsular Review and Pacific Grove Daily Review December 6, 1926) Civil War Vet Dies in Grove at Age of 80 Funeral services for Herbert Rodgers Starkhouse, 82, for sixteen years a resident of Pacific Grove where he made his home with a daughter at 153 Monterey avenue, will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o’clock in Paul’s Mortuary. Following the services, which will be directed by Rev. Cidy of St. Mary’s church, the body will be transported to Mt. Olivet, San Francisco, for cremation. A native of Omar, New York, Starkhouse made a brilliant record in the Civil War and was a member of the local G.A.R. post at the time of his death. His comrades here will pay him a final tribute at the services tomorrow. He is survived by two daughters in Pacific Grove, Leonora Starkhouse of 153 Monterey avenue and a married daughter. Another married daughter living in Stockton has arrived here for the services. Attention Lucien Fairchild Post No. 179, Department of California and Nevada G.A.R., assemble at Post Headquarters, Work Hall, Pacific Grove, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday December 7th 1926, hence to J.K. Paul’s Mortuary to hold G.A.R. Funeral Services at 2 p.m. over the remains of Comrade H.R. Starkhouse, who died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5th, 1926. the remains will be forwarded to Mount Olivet for cremation Wednesday morning, Dec. 8th, 1926. Geo. L Clingman, Comdr. W.S.
