FORTY-THIRD REGIMENT OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

THREE YEARS SERVICE

     This Regiment was orginized at Camp Andrews, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and
various places in the State from September 28, 1861 to February 1, 1862, to
serve three years. On the expiration of the term of service the original members
(except veterans) were mustered out, and the organization composed of
veterans and recuits were retained in the service until July 13, 1865, when it
was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department.
     The official list of battles, in which this Regiment bore an honorable part
is not yet published by the War Department, but the following list has been
compiled after careful research, during preparation of this work.
