Labadie and Wyllie Families

labadie-peter.jpg (20086 bytes) Peter Labadie was a French Canadian, and his birth name is likely to have been Pierre. All reference to him in Yuba County was using the name Peter. His wife's name was Margaret (Margarite) Meilot or Milot, who was born in France. Peter was born 21 Aug 1800 in Assumption, Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He died 8 Aug 1882 at Maple Springs Ranch in Yuba County. His burial is at Indiana Ranch Cemetery, along with other members of the Labadie family. He and Margaret are buried in row 13, lots 24 & 25.
labadie-mary-ann.jpg (25041 bytes) Mary Ann Labadie Fenton was the first daughter born to Peter and Margaret Labadie, born about Feb. 1849 in South Bend, Indiana. She was married to William George Fenton on 27 June 1868. She is buried in a Nevada City cemetery, with her daughter, Mame.
fenton-william-george.jpg (22644 bytes) William George (George William) Fenton was born about 1837 in New York City. He was in Yuba County in the 1850's and still held mining interests here in 1880. Upon his marriage to Mary Ann Labadie, they moved to Nevada County. In "Nevada County History", he was living at Pine Grove Reservoir, about 2.5 miles from French Corral, c.1880. Unknown place of burial.
Also related to this family are the Wyllie's - who lived in Forest City, Camptonville, Grass Valley, Alleghany, and Nevada City.
