Historical Reminiscences VETERANS OF THE MEXICAN WAR Of the gallant men who fought and won the bloody battles of the Mexican war, many came to California. Their love of adventure, engendered by the excitements of their long campaign, led them to seek this coast as soon as the news of the great discovery at Coloma was heralded in the East.
