Source Unknown; Date Unknown Nov. 16, 1923 � June 7, 2004 A memorial service was held Saturday, June 12, at the Jehovah�s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Mojave for Harry Clarence Bachstein, 80, who passed away in California City on June 7. Harry was born on Nov. 16, 1923 in Great Falls, Mont., to Harry and Marie Bachstein. He married his wife of 55 years, Alta Tietje, on Aug. 13, 1949, in Reno, Nev. Harry was a ranch foreman for the Jubilee Ranch in Nevada for 19-1/2 years before moving to California City in 1974. He managed the Arcero Ranches in Cantil until his retirement. Harry was a very gifted musician, playing 13 different instruments, his favorite being the fiddle. He was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association, District 3 (Bakersfield) for many years. He won many awards and trophies on the fiddle and guitar. He was known to most as �Curley Montana.� Harry is survived by his loving wife, Alta Bachstein of California City; sons, Floyd Bachstein and wife Malinda of Reno, Nev., Roger Bachstein and wife Andrea of Lancaster and David Bachstein of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Frazier, in 2001. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hoffman Hospice, 5300 California Ave., Suite 1, Bakersfield, CA 93309.
