Charles Francis Bannan mourned at age of 81
DOWNEY-A Mass of Christian Burial was heard Friday, April 18, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help 
Catholic Church for Charles Francis (Charlie) Bannan, vice chairman of the board of Western 
Gear Corp., and a 43 year Downey resident, who died at his home April 16. 
He was born in San Francisco Nov. 29, 1915, and was 81. He was a member of the Knights of 
Malta and the Knights of St. Gregory. 
Survivors include his wife, Idell F. Bannan of Downey; his daughter, Toni Gross of Los Angeles; 
his son, Forrest Bannan of La Canada; brothers Reverend Louis I. Bannan, S.J., of Santa Clara and 
Bernard Bannan of Pasadena; sister Patricia Cruden of Hillsboro; and three grandsons. 
A Funeral Mass was heard Saturday, April 19, at All Souls Chapel in Calvary Cemetery, the Rev. 
Fathers Louis I. Bannan, S.J., and John Maloney officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery. 
Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
