Published in the San Mateo County Times on 11/6/2003 PHYLLIS BARRETT 78 Died peacefully Nov. 4, 2003 at her home of 11 years in Hillsborough. Phyllis, this past year fought a tough, courageous battle with colon cancer. She did everything in her power to live a purposeful life through the arduous journey of fighting this illness. Her family and friends will always remember her tenacity and spirit. Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Leland. She is survived by her cousins, Josephine Guttadauro of Palo Alto, Gaetano Restivo of San Jose, and Pietro Restivo of San Francisco. She will be remembered and missed by her friends, among them being Gloria D'Acquisto, Lorriane Smith, and Deborah Woodman. Phyllis was an active member of the Burlingame-Hillsborough Newcomers and the Hillsborough Garden and Antique Group. She was a lover of all animals, her backyard a haven for deer, birds, and squirrels. She was an advocate of pet rescue, rescuing and loving many cats during her life. She will be missed by her much loved cat, Mon Ami. Prayers and blessings will be held for Phyllis Barrett Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 at 12:00 P.M. at Crosby N. Gray, 2 Park Road, Burlingame. At 11:00 visiting hours will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Pets in Need, 875 5th Ave., Redwood City.
