SCALES PIONEER DIES TWO WEEKS AFTER WIFE � Scales, Feb. 8.- Two weeks after 
the death of his wife, Philander Bean died at his home of pneumonia. Bean 
was a native of Maine, aged 78 years. He had been a resident of Scales 50 
years, where he owned mining and lumber land. Besides five grandchildren he 
leaves a brother, Joel Bean of Strawberry Valley.
