Friends, family mourn Arlene Beckley at 76
DOWNEY-Memorial services will be held at her daughter's home in Fullerton for Arlene Beckley, a 
Downey resident since 1962 and the former owner of Arlene's Beauty shop in Downey. 
She was 76, born in Harlan, Iowa, and died at her daughter's home in Fullerton Nov. 23. 
Her first beauty shop was at Third Street and Downey Avenue (in the old Mason's building) in the 
early 1960s. Her second shop was on Second Street in Downey's downtown from 1966 to 1987. 
The City bought her out to do the downtown remodels. 
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Beckley of Downey; her son, Lonnie Beckley of Downey; her 
daughter, Lorraine Wicks of Fullerton; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 
Pastor Joe Jenkins will officiate. 
Arrangements are by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
