Source Unknown; Date Unknown Feb 24, 1930 � March 14, 2005 A graveside funeral service was held Thursday, March 17, at the Tehachapi Public Cemetery, Eastside for James Wayne Bryant, 75, who passed away on March 14 in a Bakersfield hospital. Bryant was born on Feb. 24, 1930 in Brownfield, Texas to James and Thelma Bryant. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from March 1951 to December 1952. Bryant was a pipe fitter for 50 years, being a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitter Local Union #409. He married his wife of 52 years, Esther Cannon, on Dec. 29, 1952 in Bakersfield and they became residents of Tehachapi in 1969. Bryant is survived by his wife, Esther Bryant of Tehachapi; daughters, Jacquie Baumann and husband Randy of Washington and Summer Leno and husband Dustin of California; grandchildren, Rick and Amber Bradley and Travis, Tiffany and Tracy Gilliland; great-grandchildren, Aeryn, Tyler, Ashland, Sierra, Andrew James, Makayla and Ricky; brother, Gerald Bryant and wife Marlene of Tehachapi; and sister, Lora Maupin and husband Keith of Washington. Bryant was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Elder Bill Willingham officiated at the service. Wood Family Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
