Source Unknown; 4 Dec 1952 Instantly killed when the car in which he was riding struck the engine of the Searles local just north of Mojave Nov. 26 at 10:20 p.m. was Seaman Henry H. Buckner, Jr. age 20. The car driven by Tommy D. Gates of Ardmore, Okla. struck the right front side of the diesel, tearing off a small platform. The young sailor had hitched a ride with Gates before the accident happened. His body was prepared for shipment by the O�Donnell Funeral Home and was sent to Espanola, New Mexico for burial. Gates was taken to EAFB hospital with numerous broken bones and transferred to Sawtelle the following morning. Engineer of the train, was Frank Lowe, Fireman was Henry I. Miller.
