The Downey Eagle July 13, 2001 Volume 9 Number 21 Service today for former Downey Dodge owner POMONA-A Memorial Mass will be held today, July 13, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Claremont for Kent Burns of Claremont, who was 79 and died July 10, . The long-time Claremont resident operated Rambler dealerships in Pomona and Covina and also owned Downey Dodge here. A native of Dodge City, Kansas, he moved to the area 40 years ago. He was a USMC pilot in WWII and was a captain in the USMC Reserves. He was a member of the Downey Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Pomona Elks, Dealer Council for Southern Calif. Dodge Dealers, Motor Car Dealers of Southern California Council, and the National Automobile Dealers Association. He is survived by his wife, Ann Burns of Claremont, son Mike Burns of Downey, daughter Susie Cole of Paradise Valley, Arizona; and two granddaughters, Megan and Laura Cole, also of Paradise Valley. Interment is in Holy Cross Cemetery in Pomona. Funeral services are being conducted by Todd Memorial Chapel, Pomona.
