Accident Kills Young Matron
Beverly Vicki Carpenter, former resident of Long Beach and just d moved to Mojave 
on Barstow Road was killed Tuesday night. in an auto crash on Hwy. 6 and Ave. B, 
one mile south of the Kern County line. 
Two other vehicles, a car and a pick-up, figured in the fatal accident. According 
to Highway Patrolman, R. L. Pfieffer, Mrs. Carpenter was northbound on Hwy. 6 
shortly before 7 p.m. when she went over the center line of the highway and 
collided with a car and a pick-up, both driven by residents of Lancaster.
Word reached Mr. Ivan Carpenter shortly after and not having any transportation, 
he went to the Mojave Sheriff's substation and an officer drove him to the County 
Line where he was picked up by an L. A. County Sheriff's unit and taken to the 
scene of the accident.
The body was taken to Mumaw Funeral Home in Lancaster where arrangements are 
pending.
