Downey's Ernest Carter is mourned at age of 83
DOWNEY-A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the 
By-the-Book Church in Bellflower for Ernest B. Carter, a Downey resident 
who died Oct. 20.

He was 83, born Aug. 7, 1913 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and was a former 
resident of Long Beach.

He was a Master Checker Champion for many years.

Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia A. Bearse and son-in-law Donald B. 
Bearse of Downey; grandchildren Dr. Kimberly Bearse Milne of Vancouver, 
Washington, and Steven D. Bearse of Murietta, California; and 
great-granddaughter Stephanie Bearse of Murietta, California.
