Chase here DOWNEY-Services for Marvin Steele Chase, a resident of Downey for 57 years and a member of the Downey Senior Citizens Recreation Club for 40 years, were held Aug. 12 at the Miller-Mies Mortuary Chapel. He died Aug. 7 at Downey Community Hospital. He was born May 27, 1914, in Salina, Kansas, and celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary last November. He was retired from Steamfitters Union Local 250, and worked as a steamfitter for 33 years. Survivors include his wife, Doris; three children, Larry Chase of El Cajon, Alan Chase of La Mirada, Karolee Shaw of Murrieta; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one sister, Garnet Fields of Hutchinson, Kansas; and a brother, Valjean Chase of Wichita, Kansas. The Rev. Steve Robbins of the First Baptist Church of Downey officiated. Burial followed at Rose Hills Cemetery.
