Born Dec. 18, 1933, Sylvia graduated Noblesville High School in Indiana in 1951 before moving to California in 1955 with her husband, Pete, where they raised their family in Pomona for 30 years. During the later years of their life in Pomona, they decided to buy a "cabin" in Big Bear City. After major renovations, their "cabin" became their permanent home for the last 20 years. Sylvia was involved with the Woman's Club of Big Bear and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Sylvia loved to spend time with her family and friends at her home in Big Bear City and in the states of Oregon, Indiana and Michigan. She loved traveling with her husband, Pete, in their fifth-wheel trailer seeing the U.S. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Marlin L. 'Pete' Christman. She is survived by her children Jeff (Lynda) Christman, Luanne (Earl) Schultz and Marla (Harry) Kengen; grandchildren Danielle (Chad) Smith, Eric (Janelle) Christman, Curtis and Natalie Fenderson; great grandchildren Hudson, Hayden and Harrison Smith; brother Alfred Coward plus many loving nieces and nephews. Services were held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Visiting Nurses Association of the Inland Counties (VNAIC), Victorville Office, 12421 Hesperia Road, Suite 11, Victorville, CA. 92395, or to your favorite charity in the name of Sylvia M. Christman. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. Her independent, outgoing, giving, sensitive and humorous spirit was instilled in her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Our hearts are heavy but also filled with happiness as she is once again with her husband, Pete, our loving dad. They are "On the Road Again."
