The Downey Eagle August 24, 2001 Volume 9 Number 27 Friends, family grieve for Anthony Clapper, age 84 DOWNEY-Services were held Thursday, Aug. 23, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for Anthony Clapper, a resident of Downey who worked as a tool and die maker for more than 38 years for Olympic Fastening Systems. He was 84, born March 17, 1917 in Ritchey, Missouri to parents John and Mary, and died Sunday, Aug. 19. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Pacific, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. His hobbies included gardening, bowling, fishing, woodworking and country music. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; sons Anthony, Lonnie, Thomas and John; daughters Marjorie, Shuana and Christine; brothers Charles, Edmond and Joseph; sisters Maryann and Louise; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Burial followed at the Calvary Cemetery in Los Angeles. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in his name to the Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, 12401 Whittier Blvd., Whittier, CA.
