The Downey Eagle August 8, 1997 Volume 5 Number 24 Services tomorrow for Albert David Colwell DOWNEY-Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday, August 9) at 9 a.m. at the Miller-Mies Mortuary Chapel for Albert David Colwell, a resident of Downey who died Aug. 3 in Mt. Vernon, Washington. He was 75, born in Lincoln, Nebraska, March 30, 1922, to parents Amazilla and Albert Colwell, and was a former truck driver for Langendorf Bakery. He married Twila Hendrick in 1942. They had a son, William. He attended school in Lincoln, and served in the U.S. Marines from 1941 to 1946. He divorced in 1946 and came to Los Angeles, where he married Doloris Piper in 1947. Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Colwell and Gayle Gordon (Randy); two granddaughters, Shelly Holt (Rick), and Darlene Neal; two grandsons, Jason and Ryan Gordon; four great-grandchildren, Quinn and Cara Holt, and Brady and Kellee Neal; and a brother, Jerry Colwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Walter and Loren; and his first wife, Twila. Friends may visit today (Friday, Aug. 8) from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Miller-Mies Chapel. Pastor David Brinkley of the First Lutheran Church of Temple City will officiate. Burial will follow at the Downey District Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
