Source Unknown; 03 Jan 1952 Death Takes Rosamond Board Member Irene Coolbaugh, 51, of Rosamond was fatally injured shortly before midnight, Friday, December 28, in a head-on collision 7 miles west of Rosamond on Willow Springs Road. The driver of the other car was Guadeloupe Segura, 47, 11 Lake Street, Bakersfield and his companion was Elzee Fury, of Long View, Texas. Both received serious injuries, multiple lacerations and head injuries. Fury sustained a fractured jaw. Mrs. Coolbaugh was taken to the Tehachapi Hospital by the O�Donnell ambulance where she died at 6:05 a.m. Saturday. Fury and Segura were brought to the Mojave Hospital by the State Highway Patrol for emergency treatment. They were then taken on to Kern General Hospital in Bakersfield, by the O'Donnell ambulance. The accident occurred when Mrs. Coolbaugh was driving alone with her husband, A. C. Coolbaugh, following her at a distance in, in another car. When Mr. Coolbaugh arrived on the scene, he found his wife�s car afire and managed to put out the blaze. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the State Highway Patrol Office. Mrs. Coolbaugh was well known in this area and was a long time resident of Rosamond. She served many years there on the School Board. Her husband is an employee of General Petroleum Corporation of Rosamond.
