Source Unknown; 15 Aug 1946 JESS CUDDEBACK PASSES AWAY One by one the old-time residents of Mojave are passing away and soon there will be none left. This time the grim spectre has taken Jess Cuddeback, 72, who was born in Tehachapi and witnessed the wild sprawling days when Mojave first appeared upon the map. He was the first to own a saloon here and drove the first automobile ever seen in this place-a one-cylinder Packard-up to that time. Mr. Cuddeback, who died last Wednesday was at one time a large property owner in Mojave, Monolith and Tehachapi, is survived by a sister, Kate Cuddeback of unknown residence, a brother Sam Cuddeback of Mojave and another brother, Dave Cuddeback, of Independence. Interrment took place in Bakersfield with Doughty-Calhoun and O'Meara in charge or the funeral services. NOTE: Jesse Price Cuddeback
