Source Unknown; Date Unknown April 10, 1961 � Dec. 26, 2004 Rosary was recited on Thursday, Dec. 30 at St. Malachy Catholic Church with Mass of the Christian Burial following on Friday, Dec. 31 for Bernardo Cuevas, 43, who passed away on Dec. 26 in Bakersfield. Bernardo was born on April 10, 1961 in a small rural town in Jalisco, Mexico to Bernardo and Maria Cuevas. At age 25, he set out in search of a better life. He traveled to the United States, establishing himself in Los Angeles. Bernardo was an avid outdoorsman and captivated by the natural beauty of this area. That is the reason he chose the city of Tehachapi as his home for the past 13 years. He leaves a legacy of having built a strong family unit, lasting friendships and helping those who needed it. Bernardo is survived by his parents, Bernardo and Maria Cuevas; sons, Raul and Angel Bernardo Cuevas; brothers, Guillermo Cuevas, Enrique Cuevas and Joel Cuevas; sisters, Beatriz Lopez, Lourdes Joya and Altagracia Mendoza; sisters-in-law, Francisca Cuevas and Margarita Cuevas; brothers-in-law, Victor Lopez, Ricardo Joya and Ramon Mendoza; nieces, Alejandra Cuevas, Lupe Cuevas, Candy Soto, Lorena Cruz, Aurora Quintino, Susana Cuevas, Meredith Cuevas, Anabel Mendoza, Leticia Mendoza, Veronica Mendoza and Tia Peters; nephews, Andres Lopez, Angel Lopez, Luis Feliciano, Arturo Joya, Ricardo Joya, Jr., Enrique Cuevas, Jr. and Joel Cuevas, Jr.; and cousins, Antonia Joya, Victor Joya, Elena Torres and Arnulfo Torres. Father Joel Davadilla officiated at the service. Interment will take place in the Panteon de Guadalupe in Jalisco, Mexico. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
