All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Mojave Desert News; 1 Aug 1996 Andries C.A. deWilde, 92, passed away 11th 1996, in San Jose. Andries life has brought him from Dutch West Indies in 1904 to become a long time resident of California City in 1967. In his many travels he had served as a Dutch Army commander in Dutch Guiana during World War II, learned several languages and some 30 dialects, achieved a Master's degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, worked as an engineer for Aluminum Company of America in Dutch New Guiana and a senior research engineer for General Motors in Detroit, he is survived by his wife Ina of California City, five children, twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Memorial services to be 4 p.m. Sunday, August 18th, at the Community Church of California City.
