Source Unknown; Date Unknown Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 18, at the Missionary Baptist Church in Mojave, for Alka Beulah Emory, 80. Mrs. Emory passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on February 14. Alka was born June 19, 1916 in Carter County, Kentucky. She married Orville Emory in Ohio on April 20, 1942. They moved to the Mojave area in 1962. She also spent time in the Bear Valley Springs area. She was truly devoted to her family and church. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching her 'soaps'. She is survived by her husband of 54 years. Orville Emory of Bear Valley Springs; sons, Gary and Barbara Emory of Mojave, Roger and Sharon Emory of California City, Mike and Jackie Emory of Mojave, Ed Emory of Mojave, and John Emory of Bear Valley Springs; and daughters, Janet and Tom Garrett of Bear Valley Springs, Lois Hamm of Tehachapi, and Pat and Dan Kullrich of Tehachapi; 28 grandchildren; 27 great- grandchildren; and sister, Gladys Emory of Kentucky. Pastor Elder Glen H. Smith officiated at the service. Interment followed at the East Kern Cemetery of Mojave. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
