The Downey Eagle May 4, 2001 Volume 9 Number 11 Memorial services for Larry Essington DOWNEY-Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at the Rose Hills Memorial Park Hillside Chapel in Whittier for Larry D. Essington, a 38-year Downey resident and a former 30-year employee of NAA-Rockwell. He worked on the Apollo program and Space Shuttle, and took pride in having worked on the program that placed men on the moon. He was 66, born in Keyesport, Illinois, and died at his Downey home April 26. He was active in the Downey Junior Athletic Association for many years as a coach and was baseball commissioner with DJAA for three years. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline; two sons, Scott Essington of Valencia, Stephen Essington of Long Beach; three sisters, Eloise Hodges of Washington, Illinois, Phyllis Wade of Greenville, Illinois, Susan Walker of Kokomo, Indiana; three brothers, Conrad Essington of Washington, Illinois, Gerald Essington of Greenfield, Illinois, Terry Essington of East Peoria, Illinois; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
