The Downey Eagle August 24, 2001 Volume 9 Number 27 Former resident Clyde Finney mourned here DESERT HOT SPRINGS-Clyde Finney, a former 25-year resident of Downey, died Aug. 2 in Palm Springs. He was 85, born March 2, 1916, to Otis and Evelyn Miller Finney in Oblong, Illinois. He married Esther Kelley on May 16. 1942 in Compton. He was an automotive repairman at Bill Barnett Chevrolet for many years until he moved his family to Downey. He worked for the Department of Consumer Affairs' Automotive Bureau as a repairman for 10 years. He later moved to Desert Hot Springs. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a charter member of the Desert Hot Springs Chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and a member of the Compton Elks Lodge for 50 years. He belonged to the Shriners and Masons of Palm Springs and Compton. Survivors include his wife, Esther of Desert Hot Springs; his son, Ronald (Kathleen) Finney of Downey; his daughter, Cheryl (Craig) Bohart of La Mirada; a brother, Leonard of Mesa, Arizona; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Private arrangements are by the Desert Hot Springs Mortuary of Desert Hot Springs.
