Daily Appeal 12/24/1861, Pg. 2 Northern Sierra Hodges Fisher was shot dead at Gibsonville, on the 14th inst., by Perry Davis, upon whom he had drawn a revolver and was advancing with it aimed for a discharge. Fisher was a man of some wealth, and quarrled with Davis while under the influence of liquor, concerning a lady who preferred the latter to himself. Davis, a man of fair reputation, was examined and acquitted, it being deemed that he acted in self defense.
