All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Source Unknown; Date Unknown California City, CA resident, Homer Lee Frakes, passed away in Lancaster, CA on January 30,2002. He had resided in California City for 35 years. Homer was born ori August 18, 1913 in Taft, CA. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1944 to December 1945 and earned the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal. He was a former commander of the VFW and was a member of the Moose Lodge, Cooties, and HFEA Boat Club. Homer was employed by Hughes Aircraft for many years. Homer was predeceased by his wife of 44 years in 1987, and his son, James Frakes, in 2001. He is survived by two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, and many loving friends who will miss him dearly. Services will be held by Pastor Ron Sparks on February 11, with viewing at 10 a.m., and services at 11 a.m. at Stickel Mortuary Chapel in Mojave, CA. Burial will take place at California City Cemetery with the VFW conducting services. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your favorite charity or organization in memory of Homer L. Frakes. Homer was a wonderful man and a true friend to many lucky people.
