Deceased was born in Troy, Oakland County, Michigan, July 27, 1833. He came to California in 1850. He was candidate for Sheriff in San Luis Obispo County in 1872. Mr. Francis married a daughter of William Rector, a pioneer of 1846, after whom is named Rector Canon.
