Friends, family grieve for Andrew Gessig Jr.
DOWNEY-Services were held at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City Thursday, June 28, for Andrew 
Gessig, Jr., a longtime resident of Downey and a painter for more than 15 years for the Chatsfield 
Construction Co. 
He was 89, born Sept. 4, 1911 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, the son of Andrew and Mary, and died 
Friday, June 22. 
He enjoyed sports including basketball, baseball and soccer, and camping in the Sierras. 
Survivors include his daughter, Marilyn of La Mirada; sons Andrew 3rd of Upland, Steve of Escalante, 
Utah; grandchildren Cindy, Kim, Tracy, Jennifer and Kevin; great-grandchildren Carter and Breanna. 
Burial followed next to his wife who preceded him in death in 1972.
