Raymond L. Gregoire mourned by many here
SOUTH GATE-A Memorial Mass was heard Sunday, Jan. 18, at St. Helen's Catholic Church in South 
Gate for Raymond Louis Gregoire, a longtime South Gate resident who died Jan. 11 of coronary 
heart failure. 
He was 61, born March 6, 1936 at St. Mary's Hospital in Long Beach. In his youth he worked in the 
oil fields of Long Beach, and was a former employee of Berg-Nelson Co., Inc., of Long Beach. 
He was among the first students to attend St. Helen's Catholic School and graduated from South 
Gate High School in 1954. 
He loved to fish and was very supportive of his family, known for his friendly personality, warm 
smile and keen wit. 
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Marie Gregoire of South Gate; his son and daughter-in-law, 
Ray, Jr. and Denise Gregoire of Oakhurst; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother 
and sister-in-law, Lawrence and JoAnne Gregoire of Cypress; his sister, LaVonne Starkey of Downey; 
and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. 
Burial followed in Oakhurst, CA (near Yosemite), where his son's family resides.
