Bessie Haughton, 83, a 24-year resident of California City, died October 26 in Lancaster 
Community Hospital. She was born January 9, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri. Bessie is 
survived by her husband of 54 years, Matthew Haughton, one son, David L. Haughton, and one 
daughter, Rochell Haughton, and three grandchildren all of California City. Bessie had one 
daughter, Rosetta Martin, and one son Michael Haughton who preceded her in death in 1982.
Viewing will be Oct. 31 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Stickel Mortuary. Services will be held 
Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. at Desert Song Four Square Church, conducted by Samuel D. Syler Jr. 
Bessie will be greatly missed.
