Source Unknown; 21 Nov 2002 Harold Thomas Hawkins went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 10, 2002 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Violet Maud Roberts Hawkins. Rev. Hawkins was born on July 14, 1910 in Alliance, Ohio, to Esther Barbara (Cameron) and Glenn Hawkins, both deceased. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Rae (Eugene) Blackstone, Cleveland Heights, Ohio; granddaughter, Rochelle Joy (Chris) Loney of Birmingham, Alabama, and grandson, William David Blackstone of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He is also survived by his sister, Lela Myrtle McKenzie of Washingtonville, Ohio and brother, Galen Walter Hawkins of Columbiana, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Homer Hawkins of Kent, Ohio. Rev. Hawkins was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He spent 65 years in the ministry preaching the Gospel. He was an ordained minister in the Methodist and Nazarene denominations pastoring churches in Iowa, California, and Alabama. Rev. Hawkins built and started the Nazarene church in Mojave, California and remained there as minister for many years. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Hoover, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, November 15, 2002, between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Hoover, Alabama.
