Hawley, the owner and operator of a beauty salon for more than 40 years in Downey, were held July 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Redding. He was 73, born Aug. 19, 1924 in Rothsay, Minnesota, and died July 3 at his Redding home. He moved to Shasta County in 1991 from Lakewood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Redding, the Redding Moose Lodge and the Shasta County Senior Citizens. Survivors include his wife, Clarice; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Randy Bright of Redding; a brother, Gene of Montana, granddaughters Megan and Toni Bright of Redding; sisters Alice Helgeson, Orion Martinson and Evelyn Martinson all of Minnesota, and Vera Helgeson of Auburn. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3290 Bechelli Lane, Redding, CA 96002 or the Mercy Hospice, 1544 Market St., Redding, CA. Arrangements were by the Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding.
