Mojave Desert News; 18 Sep 1947 CYCLE RIDER MEETE DEATH IN CRASH Ernest Hededus 23, 1818 Cimarron St. Los Angeles, died early Thurday morning Sept. 11 of injuries received when his motorcycle collided with an automobile six miles east of Mojave on Highway 466. The California Highway Patrol said Hededus, an employee of the Muroc Army Air Base crashed his cycle into an automobile that was driven by Marvin Cross of Choteau, Okla.. Wilmer M. Trivett, a passenger on the motor cycle was seriously hurt and spent a day in the Mojave Hospital. The two small daughters of Cross Gwendolyn 5, and Carolyn 3, received emergency treatment for injuries they suffered and were taken to a Los Angeles Hospital by the O'Donnell Funeral home ambulance. Tripp suffered a broken hand in the accident which necessitated the removal of a heavy finger ring. Charles Spicer, Mojave jeweler offered his service, and removed the ring after a long and hard job.
