Jailed Man Commits Suicide
Abelino A. Herrera, 33, of 3830. Eagle Street, Los Angeles, was found dead in his 
cell in Tehachapi jail Monday night July 26.
He had been arrested earlier in the evening by Police Chief Roland FA. Johnson, on 
a drunk count as reported to Deputy Coroner Ross Jones. At 8 p.m. he was given 
cigarettes by the jailer but at 9 :30 was found hanging from a window bar with his 
belt fastened to the bar and around his throat.
He was cut down and resusitation applied by the Kern County Fire Dept. without 
success. The body was removed to the O'Donnell Funeral Home in Mojave.
Remains have been transferred to Basque & Sons Mortuary of Los Angeles for 
funeral arrangements.
