The Downey Eagle March 5, 1999 Volume 7 Number 2 Many here grieve for John Wallace Hess, 96 DOWNEY-Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday, March 6) at 11 a.m. at the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary Chapel for John Wallace Hess, a six year Downey resident and a grading and paving contractor in Long Beach for 53 years. He was 96, born in Farmington, Utah. He was a former 42 year resident of Fullerton, and died at the Hospice of Interhealth Feb. 26. He was a former member of the Long Beach Lions Club, and was preceded in death by his wife, Densia in June of 1998. Survivors include his daughters, Mary L. Licano of Downey and Beverlee Lamoreaux of Redding; a brother, Lyle Hess of Fountain Valley; sisters Barbara Merrill and Sally Garrett of Hemet; seven grand- children and eight great-grandchildren. Pastor Gordon D. Venturella of the Downey First Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
