Emma F. Hicks laid to rest at age 93
DOWNEY-Graveside services were held Nov. 20 at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier for Emma F. Hicks, 
a former longtime Downey resident. 
She was 93, born in Bloomington, California, Jan. 14, 1904, and died Nov. 17 at Los Alamitos Hospital after 
a long illness. 
She was a homemaker, and worked in the Downey cafeteria system for 26 years until her retirement. 
She and husband Clarence were married Jan. 3, 1923. From Downey they moved to Joshua Tree, then El 
Monte, and finally settled at Seal Beach's Leisure World. 
Survivors include husband, Clarence; daughters Edith McCurdy (Charles) of Downey, Esther Crandall of 
Oregon; son Clarence "B" Hicks of Arizona; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alva 
Brashear. 
The Rev. Robert Hempy officiated. 
Arrangements were by Rose Hills Memorial Park.
