Henry Hochstrat, pioneer, farmer and friend passed away from earth leaving wife, children and friends to mourn for a good husband, father and neighbor. He had been ill for some time and though all felt, that he would not recover, the end came unexpectedly. His wife had gone to rest for a while and was sleeping and all was quiet in the house, when he suddenly, painlessly breathed his last. He seemed to suffer not at all. Henry Hochstrat was born at Rapsdorf, Munster Co., Germant, November 1823. He was therefore 88 last November. Arriving at New Orleans in July 1844, he went thence to Missouri. At Westphalia in that state October 25th, 1858, he married his wife, who was born at Istrup, near Braker in Westphalia, Germany, Dec. 8th 1827. Her name was France Gollner, and she had come from Westphalia, Germany with her parents. They came here from Missouri in 1874. they settled on the little farm th ree miles above town, where they have since resided. On the 25th of October, 1903, their home was thrown open to family and a few friends for the celebration of their Golden Wedding. The house was joyously crowded with their children and grand children and the few friends who remember the occasion with great pleasure.
