The Downey Eagle April 24, 1998 Volume 6 Number 9 Teacher Richard Holz mourned by many here DOWNEY-Richard Holz, a Downey resident for 45-years and an organizer with his wife of several trips abroad, died April 11. He was a former teacher and college advisor at Schurr High School in Montebello. He accompanied his wife, Shirley (a Warren counselor), on 11 student trips to Europe, and prepared lessons for the youngsters throughout. On their retirement, he and his wife organized trips for adults abroad. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his children, Evan, Shelley and Kenny (all of whom attended Downey schools).
