"Big Bear Grizzly"; Wednesday, July 15, 2009 4/7/18 ?? 7/5/2009 Our beloved mother, Bobbie Hunsaker, passed away at age 91 on July 7, 2009, at Prestige Assisted Living in Henderson, Nev., surrounded by her family, holding her hand wishing her God speed on her new journey. Bobbie was a world traveler and had been telling her family a few days earlier that she was getting ready to go on a big trip. Bobbie is survived by her children Julie Grandi (and husband John) and Stanley Hunsaker (and wife Jerri), grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie and Ashley Hunsaker, and a great granddaughter, Presley Joyner. Bobbie leaves a wake of love behind with her many friends in Las Vegas and Big Bear. She was well known for her sparkling blue eyes and big smile, still evident at 91. Bobbie was born in Greybull, Wyoming as Mary Roberta Fisk. She met her husband, Bob, in high school. They later married and had daughter Julie while still in Wyo., They moved to Boulder City, Nev., a year later where Bob worked at Hoover Dam in the early days, then spent a career at Titanium Metals Corp. Son Stanley was born in Boulder City and both children graduated from high school there. After the children left home, Bob became a builder and Bobbie was a decorator who owned her own drapery shop. They built a beautiful home in Henderson overlooking the Vegas valley which became family headquarters, and where Stan and Jerri still live today. Bobbie was active in the PEO Sisterhood (a philanthropic and educational organization for women) and served as Nevada state president. July 7 was Bob and Bobbies wedding anniversary, and the family is celebrating that they had their anniversary together for the first time in the 21 years since Bob passed away. Bobbies passion was travel, travel, travel and she has been all over the world. In the 1990s, Bobbie moved to Big Bear and loved the mountains so much she requested that her ashes be returned to Big Bear. Bobbie was the matriarch at her beloved church, the Bear Valley Center for Spiritual Enrichment, and a big fan of the Community Arts Theater Society. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the church BVCSE, P. O. Box 4184, Big Bear Lake 92315, or to CATS, P. O. Box 400, Big Bear City, CA 92314. A memorial service to celebrate Bobbies life and legacy will be held Wednesday, July 29 at 4p.m. at the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater. Bobbies long-time friend and minister from Las Vegas, the Rev. Richard Walter, is coming to conduct the service, along with her Big Bear church choir, High Spirits. A reception will be held on the grounds following the service. Attendees are urged to park in the upper parking lot which is closer to the Amphitheater.
