Pastor Lary Scott from the Nazarene Church officiated. Ray E. Johnson was born in Eugene, Oregon on March 26, 1907. His family moved to Idaho in 1914 where he attended Lone Tree School and then Northwest Nazarene Academy and College. He later left home, went to work in California in the agricultural industry; and in 1934 he married Edna Marie Taber. To this reunion were born six children; Gilbert, Kathryn Adkisson, David, James, Jean Johnson and Betty Kayali. Ray was preceded in death by his infant son Gilbert, his wife Edna (1972), and four siblings. He is survived by his sister, Willma MacNamara, in Oregon as well as eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and nine nieces and nephews and their offspring. Ray had many interests, but he especially loved tilling the soil, hiking, finding and polishing gemstones and reading from his extensive library. He also had a great love for God and his church. His family is especially grateful to the staff of the Antelope Valley Care Center where he stayed the last year of his life.
